Why did my dentist take my blood pressue?

I had a dentist appt yesterday. The hygeniest took my BP before the dentist came in for the exam. Why? Also, when you get your teeth cleaned, does your dentist hurt you? Ow, my dentist is rough!

Why did my dentist take my blood pressue?
I am a dentist and regularily have my hygeinists take BP, especially on new patients. Hypertension is one of the most serious undiagnosed problems that people have. It takes one minute. I also do not treat patients with uncontrolled BP depending on the procedure I am doing. If you have extrememly high blood pressure and are anxious about getting your teeth cleaned, the stress elevating your BP from the cleaning can give you a heart attack, stroke, rupture and anuerism, etc.

Pain at the dentist is normal. especially when people put off going and poor hygiene, this causes inflammation which makes it really easy for someone cleaning your teeth to cause you pain.

It is possible that someone unskilled will cause you pain, but maybe its your oral condition;...or maybe a little of both, who knows?
Reply:I don't know about blood pressure checks before a cleaning. Maybe your dentist had a problem with another patient and is being careful.

No, when I get my teeth cleaned there's no pain at all, not even discomfort.
Reply:Change your Dentist.
