I asked my son's pediatrician about taking him to the dentist, and she told me that he didn't need to go to the dentist until he was 2 (but closer to 3).

That is not the advice that you will get from a dentist. They will tell you that a child should start to see a dentist as soon as they cut their first couple of teeth. Proper dental care for baby teeth is important since they hold the place in the mouth where the permanent teeth will grow in. Try to find a pediatric dentist because they specialize in children.

If your son hasn't been to the dentist yet, just relax. Make an appointment as soon as it is convenient, and until then, just keep brushing his teeth regularly (twice a day). Remember to limit sugary foods, and be sure to brush right afterward. If you can't brush your son's teeth right away (like because you are out running errands), give him a piece of cheese after his snack and it will help to clean his teeth.
Reply:As soon as a child has teeth they should see a dentist. Find one that has expertise in handling children.
Reply:As soon as your child gets their first teeth, they should go to the dentist, at least by the time that they are 12 months old. Baby teeth are very important in the growth of the adult teeth for many reasons. That is why your infant should get into the dentist.
