I have been going to my dentist for about twenty five years. I like him and I trust him. A week ago I had my cleaning and x-rays. Then the other dentist walks in and examines my x-rays and tells me I need a crown. I may need the crown but I was not asked or informed that another dentist would be examining me. If I wanted to see another dentist I could have found one closer to home.
I want to schedule my crown with my original dentist. Am I making a big deal of this?
Dental exam with new dentist?
Talk to your original dentist and ask him what's up with the "new" guy? Tell him if you need this procedure done, that you want him to do it, and not the new guy.
Having trust in the dentist you are using is very important. Not just anybody can take their place.
Reply:I don't think you are making a big deal over it. We want people that we can trust, especially doctors. If you have been w/the same doc for twenty five years and you don't feel comfortable w/the new doc, then you should say something. I don't think there is anything wrong with not wanting a new doctor. Besides, the doctor that you have been going to for all these years knows your history better.
Reply:No, you are not making a big deal out of this at all! Please call and schedule a consult appointment with your original dentist. Tell him your concerns and ask about the need for a crown. Dentists see many patients a day and don't always realize there is a specific concern. However, if he's been your dentist for so long, then he should be happy to discuss this with you! Good luck!
