I go for the check up. Dentist told me I needed scaling and many cavaties filled. I asked him about a molar that was sticking up a 1/4 of a inch higher than my other teeth and was hurting as well. They took xrays and he showed one to me with this tooth. (Supposedly mine) Told me it was periodontal disease and air was pushing the tooth up. They gave me a plan, 8 visits doing a little at a time but not going to extract the tooth til the 4th visit (Which would be in like a month in a half).
By the next Friday it really hurt, I called and they set up a appt Sat with another dentist in practice cause the original dentist was off. xrays on file were not what he originally showed me and they took more xrays. Turns out they could not pull it anyway Impacted Wisdom tooth. Told me I'd have to go to a
Oral Surgeon.Wasted my time for 3 hours as well as the2nd dentist. Plus they charged my insurance for more xrays.
I havce left many messages for the owner to contact me, he has not.
Misdiagnosed at the dentist. What do I do now?
This one is a little tricky. It takes a lawyer to prove if you were wronged, and it is hard to be sure from the story. If there was negligence or incompetence on the part of the first doctor, you would have a case. If he just made a mistake, it's a little trickier. Doctors don't have to be perfect, and you can't sue every time one makes a mistake.
I'm a little surprised you haven't got a call back, but maybe you will today (they may have had to think about what to do about it). If I were the dentist, I'd waive at least part of the fees for your visits--try to make it so it didn't cost either of us out of pocket, and let it become merely a waste of our time and maybe a bill for the insurance company. Were you polite on your phone message--if you were threatening or angry they may have referred the call to their lawyer, and it will take a little longer to hear back.

Reply:This one probably wouldn't hold up in court and would cost you a bundle more money and your time to even consider it. Unfortanely these dentists like this give a bad name to all the good ones out there. You won't meet many dentists like this. Most are honest and caring and really do want to help others and not just milk them of their money. I hope and pray you can find a good dentist this time around.
Reply:I think that you should go see another dentist and get a second opinion. You need to see someone that is going to pay more attention as to what is going on with your mouth. I am sorry that you had to go through that from your dentist. You are suppose to be able to trust your doctors to know what is going on. Not all dentist's are like that. I have been lucky to have worked for 4 wonderful dentist's that really took there time with our patients. Please go see someone else. You will be happy that you did.

I went to a consult because my bridge was loose. He gave me two options. 1. Dentures with mini implants (7) or 2. Regular implants with a bridge. I went with dentures and Mimi implants because the other was double the cost. He put the first 4 mini implants in my mouth with a denture. I kept on having sores due to the dentures moving. He told me I had to live with the sores they would get better. I kept asking when he was going to put in the remaining mini implants, and he kept avoiding me. Finally after 7 months, my husband and I went to his office and he told me I had no bone on the right side of my mouth where the remaining implants would go! He should have noticed this before we even started. I paid $12,000 and he acts like not a big deal. I asked for my money back for the 3 implants and he said no it is a package. Thank God I did not go with the regular implants it was $26,000. So all my teeth are pulled out on top and I am in pain because the denture does not stay in place because of no implants on other side.��������
