For all dentists, dentist assistants, or orthos.?

im fourteen and i need a root canal and im deathly afraid of the dentist! i have a couple friends that had one done and they said it killed, but the thing is i dont trust my dentist at all! and i was wondering is i could just get it pulled and get a spring like thing(my friend has a couple of those) to pull the gap together when i get braces(im gettiing them in may or june).......... and the tooth i need a root canal on is the fourth to the right on my bottom row of teeth. i dont have a problem with gettiing it pulled but novocaine just does not work at all with my teeth....... i had 6 fillings and it killed with 5 shots of novocaine and my dentist waited atleast 10 to 20 minuits before drilling the cavaties and they were very small cavities...... the tooth i need a root canal on dont hurt unless i put somthing cold on it(thats how all my teeth are)

Reply:don't get it pulled. If you parents can afford it, get the root canal. everybody gets numb different. you might need to wait a little longer to get numb, or a stronger Novocaine (if health allows)

don't be afraid of the dentist. root canals are usually done in three visits.
Reply:You need to get the root canal done. And don't listen to your friends. They don't know what they're talking about. I had a root canal on my front tooth that I had knocked out playing basketball. It takes a little while for the procedure to be done, but they numb it up so good and make sure you're comfortable that it doesn't hurt at all. I think getting a cavity drilled is more annoying with that drill buzzing in your mouth and giving you a headache. Just tell your dentist you're scared and to make sure you're good and numb.
Reply:get rid of your fears, it will not hurt you at all or may be just when you get injected.
