How to find old-fashioned dentist with spitoon?

My dentist is retiring in June and I have a real problem. I have searched in the past for a new dentist (including using 1-800-DENTIST, which I didn't find that helpful) and have continually returned to my original dentist. Come June, I don't have a choice. It bothers me that so many dentist focusing on cosmetics and teeth whitening these days, and sometimes miss the basics of working with a patient with anxiety (not anxiety about dentists, but general anxiety disorder). My current dentist understands the importance of having a spitoon by the side of the chair (instead of that awful newfangled suction for removing water from mouth)--as a way of giving patient a "time out" and giving a sense of control for a moment or two. I am finding this near impossible to find. Any suggestions? By way of reference, I live and work in central and northeastern Connecticut, USA.

I am sorry I can't give you a specific answer, but one idea is to post your question at the health forums at craigslist.org

The advantage to posting there is that they have a specific subdivision for your geographic region of Connecticut.
Reply:the suction isn't anything new it's been around for a long time as for the spitoon the reason it's not being found in dentists offices is because they are nasty and not very hygenic. Patients miss the bowl and get the spit and water all over the place. It's just plane ol' nasty. If you need a time out then just raise your hand and ask for it any decent dentist will be more then willing the give that to you.
Reply:WELL I THINK YOU SHOULD GIVE THE 'MODERN DENTISTS' A TRY THEY ARENT THAT BAD. I SAY MOVE WITH THE TIMES AND OPEN YOUR MIND UP AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT YOU MISSED OUT ON, DONT WRITE THE MODERN DENTISTS OFF WITHOUT FIRST GOING TO ONE.

TIMES HAVE CHANGED AND YOU WILL STRUGGLE TO GET AN OLD FASHIONED DENTIST!!!
