Dentist Screwed Me Over-What Can I Do About It?

I went to a dentist in August. He was a new dentist to me but my uncle recommended him. I went to him because I thought my insurance was running out and I needed to go in somewhere fast (it turns out it wasn't running out after all, but that's another story). He told me that I needed 7 fillings and 3 root canals. I let him do two fillings, on teeth that weren't bothering me, because he said that they were very deep cavities.

I went to my regular dentist yesterday because I needed to get some fillings done on teeth that actually were bothering me. He said that I didn't need root canals, and the teeth that the other dentist filled didn't have cavities. I trust him.

The teeth that the dentist in August filled hurt whenever I have cold food or drink (they didn't used to). He was also very rough with me, almost breaking my jaw. In addition, he told me that I HAD to get a loan and come back to him, or I would get an infection and die. Is there something I can do, legally? Thank you.

Dentist Screwed Me Over-What Can I Do About It?
I am not sure why you didn't go to your regular dentist in the first place, ???? doesn't make sense, but I can tell you that your regular dentist cannot state no cavities were there unless he has recent xrays taken before the fillings were done.

It is not uncommon for a dentist to see a large cavity, close to the nerve and recommend root canal, ESPECIALLY IF THE TEETH WERE BOTHERING YOU (that is a big key), that is a very common diagnosis because once the cavity is removed and being that close to the nerve it is possible to set the nerve off and have it turn into a root canal anyway. In some cases a dentist can excavate the tooth removing all the decay, then put a sedative temporary filling in it for a few weeks to see if the tooth stays calm.

By the way, sensitivity to cold is common after a silver filling is placed and should gradually diminish within the next couple of weeks. If the sensitivity increases it could possibly mean root canal or extraction, especially if the teeth are sensitive to hot and cold.

Being rough, some dentists are just not gentle, whether they have large hands or what can't really say, some have poor chair-side manner, and yet they still practice dentistry.

Getting a loan, some offices have a credit system they work with, in our area it is called Dencharge. With the possibility of 3 root canals (and any restorative work after the root canals are finished) plus 7 fillings you would be looking at a bill of roughly $3400.00-$7500.00 depending on the work involved, not many people carry that as pocket change.
Reply:I would call a lawyer that knows his stuff about malpractice suits!? I could be wrong, but it seems like you have a case here! If your current dentist can prove that the other dentist intentionally screwed you over!
Reply:File a report with the state dental board. In most cases, if a pattern is established, the ofending dentist will be fined and/or have his license revoked.
Reply:see if it is fraud it could be so look it up and who knows something good could come out of it like you getting money for him hurting you and doing unnecessary dental work on you.
