Dentist charged too much...?

My private dentist charged me £535 for root canal treatment a month ago, so I have now manager to get in with my mums dentist on the NHS. I went for a a check up today where the dentist took x-rays and told me that the root canal treatment done by the other dentist had not been done sufficiently and I need it doing again. Is there anyone I can ring to find out if I can get money back from the private dentist?? Thanks people x

Dentist charged too much...?
There must be a type of dental "ombudsman" where you can take your case to.

Have a look at the website below for complaining about private dental treatment.
Reply:what i had root canel it was £250

get in contact with you primary care trust,

iwas able to get my money back, from the dentist, email me if you wanna know more
Reply:Now you know why they all drive Mercedes
Reply:Go back to the original dentist and tell them but if you get working tax or child tax credit you get free dental treatment, or dental hospitals.
Reply:If you have all papers and proof.. file a case against the previous dentists before you for a treatment. if you win.. u can do many root canek treatment for all your teeths.
Reply:You can certainly file a complaint, but, just like construction contractors or any laborer, there are "no laws" against shoddy workmanship.

Sad but true.

As doctors go, bodily injury to ones health can be litigated.

Good luck.
Reply:walk into your local citizen advice bereau
Reply:Yes, you can try and maybe be lucky. First approach the dentist and ask for a refund formally (by letter). State that you are also contacting the Dentist Council regarding the quality of the work (don't mention cost). Dependant on the dentist response, consider alternate action:

Do contact the Dentist Council, do also get a report a from another dentist about the poor job that was done. These people are more afraid of being reprimanded by their little club (Dentist Council) than by customers.

Come to South Africa and get it done for next to nothing and have a holiday while the swelling goes down. Good luck.
Reply:Whoa there are two conflicting points here. First off £535 may be too much but I don't know a lot about private treatment costs.

The main thing is to speak to the dentist about what your new dentist has said. There's no point going through the hassle of contacting your PCT or the BDC if he'll fix it for free. If he won't then by all means get in touch with them.
Reply:Transcend Dental Medication
Reply:i would ask the private dentist first of all. if he hasn't done the job correctly then he should fix it. how can you be sure that the NHS dentist is right?

things could be different for you but i have found that compared to private dentists, the NHS dentists are seriously lacking in time to take care of you.
Reply:report him to ur local health board they govern private and nhs
Reply:hi i am a dental nurse, you wont be entitled to your money back but they should redo your treatment for you free.

write a letter of complaint and ask them to sort out the problem asap.
