HIV from dentist !!???

When you visit the dentist, how can u be sure that the tools the dentist uses on u are sterilized and clean. I mean maybe the dentist uses the same tools on an earlier patient and then forget to replace the tools or sterilize them and then uses them again on the next patient.

I am asking because I visited a dentist lately and I am afraid he might have passed hiv to me.

He was a very good and clean dentist but I am still afraid

HIV from dentist !!???
How can you be sure? You can't. If you can't trust your dentist, move on.

However, there has only been one dentist EVER who actually passed HIV on to patients and he did this deliberately. Search for David Acer Dentist and you'll find out about him.
Reply:When you go to the denstist the tools should be in a sterile wrapper and they should not unwrap them until they are ready to actually work on your mouth so they don't get exposed to germs etc. If you are that worried about your dentist I would consider talking about your fears with your dentist or the hygenist at his office so they can tell you what their policy and proceedure is for sterile instrument care.
Reply:Due to infection control policies (HSI/JHACO; OSHA) there are levels of sterilization/disinfection that ALL medical must practice to keep certification/accreditation. You can always take a tour of their DIPA/DIPC (Dental Instrument Processing Area/Center) and/or ask to watch them set-up/tear down the room prior to and after your care. As long as the clinic adheres to the universal precaution guidelines there's NO WAY that anything can be passed on to you.
Reply:the have to sterialise the tools by law so they will have dont worry
