About my dentist.?

I went to my dentist for a check up because I had a toothache. He told me that I have an abscess and I need a root canal, thats after he came back with the x-rays. But he said he will try to do a filling. I went to the dentist and he gave me a filling on that tooth. I don't think he even knows if I have an abscess or not, because he just gave me a filling, don't I need a root canal on my abscessed tooth?





I don' think my dentist really knows if I have an abscess tooth or not because he told me I did, then he changed his mind, and it sounds like he isn't sure, thats why he only did a filling.





What should I ask or tell my dentist?

Reply:I would go to a second dentist and see what he says.
Reply:Don't pull my tooth out..really..i went in years ago at an army base,and they pulled my abcessed tooth..things are better now,in the city,at least.i do not ever go to army doc.
Reply:sounds like your dentist was telling you all the scenarios that may be present. Upon further examination he determined that it was not a deep enough abcess to warrent a root canal. Just a thought. Ask him.
Reply:I had a similar thing happen to me a year ago- my tooth was bad and my dentist put a filling in it b/c he said it was like a trial-if it still hurt then i would need a root canal. So i think if it still hurts after say like 2 weeks, you'll prob need to get a root canal, but if the swelling goes down, and ur tooth is doing ok, hten i wouldnt bother.
