DeNtIsT??????

I had children young I am 20 and I am finally finding what I want to be. I think i want to be a dental hygienist and continue school get, my bachelors and try to be a dentist. I think it would be great to be able to help people in some way (I am an accountant now) and I think that doing charity work for people without insurance would be awesome. So here are my questions:

Do you think I shoul try?

Where should I start?

What other jobs can I do in the field while I get my certifications?

Around how much will I make?

Please don't leave rude answers. I want people you really know to answer!

DeNtIsT??????
You can get certified as a dental hygienist at a community college, and take the classes part-time so you can have another job on the side. You could probably find the average amounts that dental hygienists make online.

Dentist..................?

have u ever had bad experience with dentist....would u care to share...i really wanna know..wht phobia or wht pain one go thru while dental treatment

Dentist..................?
Yesterday I saw a child 12 years old. He always threw tantrums when going to the dentist when he was little so his parent stop taking him. I asked his dad when he had his first molar pulled because I did not see it. His dad said he has never had a tooth pulled ever. Yes, The tooth had disintegrated down to the bone and now the bone was infected. The parent was clueless. He came in, in pain late on a saturday the day before memorial Day Holiday. I knew he was terrified because he was cold and sweaty. but I also knew he was in pain because the let me give hime all the shots with tears stream from his eyes. It took me 45 minutes to fish out the three root tips. I think that was a pretty bad experience for the kid. It's a self fullfilling prophecy if you imagine the pain and image of the dentist pulling your teeth, you avoid it. The eventually it will happen to you.

Well we got the 3 little roots out and sewed him up. I told him the other 3 molars are headed that way. He probably won't come back until the day before Thanks giving or something. 12 years old is too young to be loosing your adult teeth.
Reply:I have never ever been to a dentist in my lifetime, and i am 19 years old. When i was younger mom never took me to dentist. And now i don't have health care so i can't afford. So if you can afford i would say go while you still can. Stay heathly.
Reply:A few years ago, I was zapped by the freezing needle, not once, but twice. It didn't hurt, but it freaked me out.

Since then, I've changed dentists, and the needles don't bother me anymore.
Reply:omg havent been since i had mouth surgery 10 years ago and no since good luck
Reply:i was having a root canal and when it was over my tounge started to burn for 3 hours but the dentist called and told me he used the wrong number so he told me to eat a few crackers and it would go away.

Describe at least three specialized skills needed to do the job of dentist

Dentist????
Dentists need to have Critical Thinking skills to determine what things in a persons life could be contributing factors to their dental problems [all healthcare providers need this]

They need to have a good business sense since most dentists do private practice.

and one of the most important - Good people/communication skills. People expect to be treated appropriately when they pay someone to help them and they need someone that can explain all that medical jargon to them in a basic but efficient manner.

Manual skills are important too because they use their hands for pretty much everything they do.
Reply:Gentle, Educated and Certified and Lic.
Reply:hand skills (includes eye hand coordination, being artistic, seeing things in 3-dimensional)

people skills

business skills

Dentist???

my friend went to the dentist got his cavities filled with the metal looking paste and now is really sensative and painfull cant eat anything to cold or hot is it normal??

Dentist???
The amalgam fillings contain over 50% liquid mercury. Ask yourself, "what is one of the primary uses of mercury?" The answer is Thermometers. Why? Because it expands and contracts consistently and easily. What do you think happens when they put that garbage in your tooth? It expands and contracts with cold and hot foods %26amp; drinks! If you look at teeth highly magnified that have amalgam fillings, you will see small fissure cracks. In fact, amalgam fillings do not bond to the teeth, so they create a reverse wedge to make it stay in the tooth. There is a small interstitial space between the amalgam and the tooth. This is where infection breads!

The mercury in the amalgam leaks out over time in the form of mercury vapor. If you have a gold filling and an amalgam filling in your mouth, especially if they are close to each other, the mercury will leave the tooth 80 times faster than if no dissemilar metal was there.

Go to the following web site and watch what mercury does to your brain tissue. The same thing that is found in alzheimer's patients. Go to: http://commons.ucalgary.ca/mercury/

This study was done by the University of Calgary School of Medicine. This information was rejected by the American Dental Association because it said that the study did not CONCLUSIVELY LINK ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE TO THE MERCURY poisoning. Really? Watch the video and watch what mercury does to the brain tissue.

Now realize that mercury is listed as a deadly poison by the CDC and then ask yourself why would we insist on the HAZMAT people to clean up neon breakage that contains mercury? Then ask yourself why would the amount of mercury that leaks out of your fillings each time you drink a hot liquid, chew gum, be about 100 to 1,000 times the amount shown in that University of Calgary video, not hurt you?

Amazing. The ADA is not looking out for you. They have a great financial interest in keeping the status quo on amalgam fillings. Now ask yourself, since there are many better alternatives to using amalgams, why take the chance? The dentist make more money using amalgams.

I recently had ALL my amalgams taken out, root canals cleaned and the CAVITATIONS below them fixed, ALL composites taken out. IN ALL CASES, THERE WERE BIG INFECTIONS IN ALL OF THEM.

good luck to you
Reply:if your teeth is sensitive to cold or hot things after an amalgam filling for about 2 weeks is Normal,(as they teach in dental studies),but more than that if it doesn't reduce and lasts more than a month u need to visit your dentist, there might be a gap between the restorative material and your tooth which may cause infection.

another thing that might have happened is that the cavities were so deep and near the pulp of teeth(where the nerves are)and while removing the cavities the pulp has been exposed or become sensitive,in that case the dentist should evaluate the teeth to see if needs root canal therapy or not.

Dentist???

I have an appointment with the dentist on wednesday

Woke up this morning with a coldsore, will i still be able to go, or have to cancel??

Dentist???
OF COURSE YOU CAN STILL GO!

The dentist should be following standard infection control procedures and he/she and the staff will have no risk in contracting it from you. After all, you could have other infectious diseases too, like Hep C, HIV ..., without knowing it. We have to treat all patients with standard infection control procedures because we have no idea what you might have.

The only downside might be for YOU. In doing the treatment, the dentist may stretch your lip and cause the cold sore to crack open and bleed.
Reply:Call the dentist's office and ask them.
Reply:We would rather you didn't come in as those are very contagious.

Dentist??????

Describe two or three areas of job satisfaction and two or three areas of job stress you can expect for working as a dentist?

Dentist??????
Benies: Painless shot appreciation, understanding financial concerns, Actual craft, general enjoyment of working with people that seem like old friends.

Stresses: Front office staff (incorrectly scheduled appointments), I guess insurance companies would be a stress, but I am happily no longer a "preferred provider" all but one insurance company, therefore, that is no longer a stress. Most stresses happen due to lack of communication, so I make sure I communicate very well.

Dentist????

how much do dentist make?

orthidondist?

i am thinking about becoming a dentist or doctor in the NAVY any advice which one is better?

Dentist????
Big difference in the military and private civilian practice. Go in the Navy to get your education then leave and go into private practice.

Dentist and orths make a good living at least $100,000 but Medical malpractice insurance takes a big chunk out of it. But they still have a good life.

Good luck to you.
Reply:Either one is good, but I'd go Air-Force
Reply:Military medical personnel are Officers and make whatever every other Officer in that Paygrade with the same time in service makes, although there may be bonuses available to stay in. But either way, it's a LOT less than the potential you could make in the civilian community.

Keep in mind though, that the Navy generally does NOT train you in these fields, you must already be Board certified to practice, although you may be able to do your Internship in the Service.
